HYDE PARK, NY – Senator Sue Serino today announced that she has been awarded the prestigious ‘Guardian of Small Business’ award by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).
“Every year, Senator Serino stands shoulder to shoulder with the small business community and her efforts have been critically important to defending and supporting the small and independent businesses that are crucial to our local communities,” said Ashley Ranslow, NFIB’s New York State Director. “From advocating for New York State to address the Unemployment Insurance (UI) crisis that is leading to oppressive UI taxes, to strongly opposing lowering the farmworker overtime threshold that would crush family farms, she’s been an unwavering champion for Main Street. As small businesses face ever-increasing challenges, we look forward to continuing to work with the Senator to ensure that every small-business owner doesn’t just hang on by a thread but can thrive and carry on for generations.”
“Our diverse small businesses are truly the backbone of our communities, and our success as a community is directly linked to their ability to thrive,” said Senator Serino. “As our small businesses continue to bear the burden of historic inflation, supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, unemployment insurance taxes and unending mandates, they need champions in state government now, more than ever. I know from experience how hard it is to make payroll and keep a small business open here in New York, which is why I am committed to ensuring they always have a seat at the table and a voice in the process when it comes to legislation that impacts their ability to operate. I am honored to receive this great award and thank NFIB for their partnership and tireless efforts on behalf of New York’s entrepreneurs and their teams.”
This unique award recognizes lawmakers who have voted in strong support of New York’s small business community during this year’s legislative session. The Guardian Award is the highest honor bestowed by NFIB on New York State legislators.
Representing nearly 11,000 independent employers across the state, NFIB is the leading small business advocacy association in the state and across the country. NFIB has offices in all 50 state capitals and is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with a unique mission aimed at promoting and protecting the right of members to own, operate, and grow their businesses.
