Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today helped pass legislation to create an additional family court judge position in St. Lawrence County. Senate bill S7534 increased the number of family court judges in districts statewide, and the inclusion of the St. Lawrence County position comes after Stec advocated for this post and sponsored his own legislation to create it. This legislation passed the Assembly earlier this week and now awaits Governor Hochul’s signature to become law.
“When I heard from St. Lawrence County officials that there was an urgent need for an additional family court judge, I immediately took action,” said Senator Stec. “I’m pleased that these efforts paid off and that we were able to pass legislation creating this position before the end of Legislative Session. I urge the governor to sign this into law immediately, so St. Lawrence County can fill this family court judge role and we can ensure those in need of the court receive the timely service they deserve.”
