(East Patchogue, NY) – NYS Senator Dean Murray presents Keith Caputo, Founder of Helping Makes U Happy with the NYS Senate Commendation Award, which recognizes exceptional people who have made a lasting contribution to their community. Helping Makes U Happy is a not-for-profit organization that aims to demonstrate how every human is capable of making a difference through volunteering; and inspire others to make a difference in their community. Keith and his board of directors are dedicated to helping others and to demonstrate how good that makes you feel. They host several fundraisers and community service projects that always involve community participation as they strive to be family friendly and provide a positive volunteer experience for anyone who participates. Not only is Keith paying it forward, he is also providing a positive affect for everyone involved. “This is just one great example of how one person can affect the lives of many. Thank you, Keith for being a constant reminder that we can all make a difference,” said NYS Senator Dean Murray, 3rd Senate District.

They joined with Long Island families to promote awareness of Dystonia and to raise funds for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. Shed the Meds Event

![Shed the Meds Event NYS Senator Dean Murray recently hosted a "Shed the Meds" event at the Sachem Library with the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department. The free event allowed the public to, safely and properly, dispose of unused and/or expired prescription drugs and over the counter medications. The event resulted in the collection of six large boxes of medication.
