New York State Senator Jack M. Martins Seeks “Business of The Month” Nominations

In an effort to recognize the achievements of local business owners and to help stimulate the growth of small businesses within the Seventh Senate District, New York State Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District), has established a new “Business of the Month” program.

To be considered, nominees must be current businesses and located in the Seventh Senate District, which covers much of the north of Nassau County including the Town of North Hempstead and the Town of Oyster Bay. Businesses will be recognized for their dedication to the community, their reputation for honesty and integrity, and their contribution to the economic growth and strength of their neighborhood. Each month, a panel led by Senator Martins will review the nominations and publicly honor those candidates they deem most worthy.

The impetus for the award grew out of personal experience. Senator Martins explained, "In my years of public service I’ve worked closely with a lot of small business owners and across the board, most had this relentless work ethic. It was never overnight success but rather it was nonstop sacrifice and dedication to customers that grew their businesses. Those were the key ingredients and I want to encourage that kind of entrepreneurship and help it take hold in our villages and towns.”

Program Officer, Peter DiSilvio added, “A good business really has an impact that can’t be measured but you know it when you see it. Whether it's sponsoring little league teams, feeding first responders during the pandemic, or just being the family gathering spot, local businesses are part of our neighborhoods.
