Albany--On Fort Drum Day at the state Capitol, Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-44th Senate District) today received the “Seven Seals Award” from Emil Baker of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) “for meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve.”
“I’m proud to be a strong voice for our veterans and active duty and reserve service members who are part of the best, brightest and most compassionate fighting force for good on Earth: the men and women of the United States military. I’m especially honored to receive this award from my friend, Emil Baker of Clifton Park, the NYS Director of Employer Outreach with U.S. Department of Defense Employer Support of the Guard, who received the Bronze Star in combat as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was my inductee in 2021 into the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame,” said Senator Jim Tedisco.
Among other veteran-friendly legislation, Senator Tedisco is sponsoring the VIP – Veterans Internship Program bill (S.291) to create a paid legislative internship program in the Senate and Assembly to provide honorably discharged veterans significant work experience and a bird’s eye view of the government they fought so hard to defend. ESGR has served our country for more than 50 years, fostering a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. These citizen warriors could not defend and protect us at home and abroad without the continued promise of meaningful civilian employment for themselves and their families.
