Albany - -Senator Jim Tedisco and Assemblyman John McDonald today welcomed to the New York State Capitol and honored with a legislative resolution they passed into law, the New York State Class C State Champion Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District Girls Soccer Team.
This is the Waterford-Halfmoon High School Girls Soccer Team’s first state championship.
The Waterford-Halfmoon High School Girls Soccer Team and Head Coach Meghan Reynolds captured the New York State Class C Girls Soccer Championship with a 6-3 triumph over Sauquoit Valley on November 13, 2022, at Cortland High School. The Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians won their first New York State Championship, while garnering a record of 40-2 over the course of the past two seasons.
Prior to their success at the State Level, The Fordians breezed through the Section II playoffs with wins over Cambridge, Berne, OESJ and Voorheesville by a combined margin of 33-1.
Throughout the entire season, these outstanding scholar-athletes outscored their opponents by a margin of 161-16, which is better than a ten to one ratio – truly a job well done!
