SYRACUSE, NY – Senator John W. Mannion today announced $1,000,000 in state funding for Help Me Grow New York to continue to support early childhood development services in Onondaga County and expand operations to Oswego County.
Help Me Grow New York is a nationally recognized program that supports optimal development of young children by providing universal developmental screening and helping families navigate the complex array of services and supports available. This funding represents a significant step forward in ensuring all New York children have access to the resources they need to thrive.
Senator John W. Mannion said, “With the record funding I worked to secure, Help Me Grow New York has new resources to support more families and children in Onondaga County and now Oswego County. Identifying and addressing developmental concerns early-on helps ensure children have the foundation they need to succeed in school and life. Investing in our kids through early childhood development is one of the smartest and most compassionate things we can do as a state.”
Brandy L. Koproski, Executive Director of Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, Inc., said, “We would like to thank Senator Mannion for his efforts in securing this funding to assist in bringing Help Me Grow to Oswego County to connect families to services and resources that support early childhood development. Implementing this proven model will build a strong foundation for children in our community and help them thrive."
Liz Isakson, MD, FAAP, Executive Director, Docs for Tots, said, “We are delighted to welcome Oswego County as the newest Help Me Grow affiliate in New York. The increase in State funding for Help Me Grow New York marks a pivotal choice for the State to invest in its littlest New Yorkers. We are grateful to Senator Mannion for his unwavering efforts to make this expansion a reality. None of this would be possible without his leadership and determination to ensure that every child in New York receives the necessary resources and supports to thrive.”
Help Me Grow connects families with a wide range of services, including developmental screenings, parent education workshops, and support groups. The program also works closely with childcare providers to ensure that all children have access to high-quality care.
Help Me Grow is a proven model that has already made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of children and families in New York. This new state investment will ensure that even more children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
