New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, recently presented a Senate Resolution to Andrew Bailey in recognition of the Chittenango High School senior capturing the 189-pound Division II state wrestling title this past winter.
In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family, friends and teammates, Andrew Bailey, the No. 2 seed, earned a 4-3 sudden victory over his No. 5 seed opponent from Wellsville High School, giving Chittenango High School its second state title in the program's history.
A standout wrestler for the Chittenango Bears, Bailey ended his season with a perfect overall record of 38-0. He was coached by Nic Bacon and Cody Carbery.
“I am pleased to recognize the hard work and dedication exhibited by Andrew and his coaches,” Sen. Griffo said. “Andrew has made his family, school and community very proud and deserves to be commended for this accomplishment. I have no doubt that he will continue to be successful and accomplish much as he moves on to the next phase of his life.”
