New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-C-Rome, released a statement today following a report that New York City Mayor Eric Adams is filing suit against 30 local governments – including Oneida, Madison and Herkimer counties – that issued executive orders prohibiting hotels from accepting illegal migrants from the city:
“This decision by Mayor Adams is outrageous, absurd and ridiculous. New York City chose to become a sanctuary city and must now live with the consequences. Oneida, Madison, Herkimer and other upstate counties have expressed significant and legitimate concerns about their ability to effectively deal with an influx of illegal migrants from the city. These local governments and communities should not be overburdened because of a mayor who is in over his head and has continued to demonstrate that he is incapable of leading the state and nation's largest city that has seen crime rise and its population drop. It may be time for the city council to consider removing the mayor to ensure that a more effective and capable leader is in place.”
