Senator Addabbo And Assemblymember Hevesi Distribute Dozens of Rain Barrels in Forest Hills

Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. and Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi hosted a free rain barrel giveaway in partnership with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) on Saturday at the Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School in Forest Hills.

They gave away 100 barrels to excited constituents, many of whom said they were avid gardeners who could not wait to start using the collected rainwater to hydrate their plants. Although the weather was hot, Addabbo and Hevesi were not shy about hoisting barrel after barrel into the trunks and back seats of cars and trucks for constituents who participated in the primarily drive-through style event.

“It’s so rewarding to see all the smiles as constituents receive their barrel,” Addabbo said. “It’s good for the community and it’s good for the earth. Thanks to Assembly Member Hevesi for his support and to DEP for supplying the barrels."
