Senator Thomas Nominates Wilma Holmes Tootle for Woman of Distinction Award

(ALBANY, NY) - On Tuesday, May 16th, the State Senate recognized Wilma Holmes Tootle as a Woman of Distinction during their Annual Women of Distinction ceremony hosted in Albany. Ms. Tootle is a resident of Freeport and was nominated by State Senator Kevin Thomas (D-Nassau County) for her dedication to educating, engaging and empowering women of color at a local level.
Ms. Tootle is President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Long Island Chapter, and is a member of the National Board of Directors. She is founder and President of W. H. Tootle Consulting Services, specializing in Etiquette, and Co-President of A Better You Consulting Services LLC, specializing in Leadership Training. A native of Autaugaville, Alabama, Ms. Tootle received her Bachelor's from Tuskegee University, Master's from Hofstra University, and Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from C.W. Post College. In addition, she has taken doctoral courses at New York University. In 1988, she was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Monrovia College in Monrovia, Liberia.
State Senator Kevin Thomas said, “Long Islanders know Ms. Tootle as someone who enjoys helping our young kids by being a positive force in their lives - and many consider themselves to be students. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to recognize such an impactful woman for her decades of service to Long Island communities. We are lucky to have Ms. Tootle living in Senate District 6!”
