Senator Lea Webb Statement on Confirmation of Judge Rowan Wilson
April 18, 2023
ALBANY, NY
Today, I was proud to vote to confirm Judge Rowan Wilson as Chief Justice of the New York State Court of Appeals. Thank you to Governor Hochul for putting forth this nomination and to my colleagues on the Senate’s Judiciary Committee for holding a fair and thorough confirmation hearing. It was an honor to be part of this historic moment as we confirmed the first Black Chief Judge in the history of our state’s Appeals Courts. He is a trailblazer who was the first and youngest Black partner at one of New York’s most highly respected law firms. He is a distinguished scholar and community servant. I am confident that Judge Wilson will serve with the dignity and prudence he has demonstrated over the course of his career.
