Senator Webb's Statement on Governor Hochul's 2023 State of the State Address

ALBANY, NY - “Today I attended my first State of the State Address in the historic Assembly Chamber with my colleagues to hear Governor Hochul's vision for the upcoming 2023 legislative session. Communities across the Southern Tier are facing a housing crisis and I  applaud the historic investments proposed by the Governor, and I will work to make sure that these resources, as we get more details, will reach our community to protect homeowners and tenants alike. Given the mental health and substance use disorder crisis facing so many New Yorkers that has been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic, I was encouraged to hear the Governor propose significant investments to help address these challenges. I am pleased to see Governor Hochul reaffirm her commitment to upholding our Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act climate law.  As we make this transition to a renewable future, we must also ensure that we are allocating funds to ease the financial cost of this transition. Finally, Governor Hochul’s proposal to increase the minimum wage at the rate of inflation each year would be a great benefit to families across upstate New York. As details are made available, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the legislature to review and build upon the Governor’s proposals to ensure that the New York dream becomes a reality for all of my constituents.”
