Court of Appeals and New York State Senate welcome the Dominican Constitutional Court

New York, NY - Senator Luis Sepúlveda is pleased to announce that on April 17, 2023, the Court of Appeals of New York and the New York State Senate will welcome for the first time the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic. This historic visit marks the first official meeting of the high court of the Dominican Republic with its counterparts in the state of New York.

Led by the President of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic, Honorable Milton Ray Guevara, and under the coordination of Honorable Judge Rafael Diaz Filpo, the delegation will carry out an agenda with members of the Court of Appeals of the State of New York, congressmen, and members of the judiciary committee of the highest legislative chamber of New York. In addition, for the first time, a Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic will give a lecture in the New York Senate on the dual citizenship held by many Dominicans and Americans in the state.

Senator Luis Sepulveda has coordinated this visit, which includes the delivery of a resolution to the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, as well as proclamations from the Senate of New York recognizing the trajectory and service to democracy of this respected court. The agenda, which begins at the Court of Appeals of New York, continues with the Senate reception, a lecture by Chief Justice Guevara, and the participation of the Constitutional Court on the floor of the New York State Senate as honored guests.
