New York State Senator Luis Sepúlveda Congratulates Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and Joseph Zayas on Their Nominations

As a New York State Senator, I am pleased to offer my warm congratulations to the Honorable Rowan D. Wilson on his nomination by Governor Kathy Hochul to serve as Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals.

 I would also like to offer my warm congratulations to the Honorable Joseph Zayas on his nomination as Chief Administrative Judge by Judge Wilson. As a Latino judge, Judge Zayas brings a unique perspective to the bench, and his empathetic approach and dedication to ensuring justice for all people, regardless of their background, is inspiring and speaks to his character as a public servant. Judge Zayas' extensive career as a judge, lawyer, and public servant has prepared him well for this important role, and I am confident that he will continue to serve the people of New York with distinction.

As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I look forward to presenting my views at the confirmation hearings in a manner that is respectful and observant of the professional qualifications of the nominees. It is important that we have highly qualified judges and administrative judges in our courts, and I am committed to working with my colleagues to ensure a fair and thorough confirmation process.
