Senate Passes Senator's Luis Sepúlveda Bill Granting Address Confidentiality Program Access to Revenge Porn Victims

I am thrilled to announce the successful passage of Bill S2789 in the Senate. This bill amends the definition of a "victim of a sexual offense" to include victims of revenge porn, granting them access to the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP). The expansion of the ACP will provide crucial support and protection to these individuals during the legal process. 

Bill S2789 broadens the scope of the ACP to encompass victims of revenge porn, allowing them to utilize this program designed to assist individuals who have relocated due to crimes committed against them. By offering an alternative address that safeguards their location, the ACP protects the confidentiality of revenge porn victims and helps them regain control over their lives. 

This amendment sends a powerful message that we stand against the victimization and exploitation of revenge porn victims. It recognizes the ongoing harassment and threats they face and ensures they have the same access to protection and support as victims of other sexual offenses. 

The bill includes an effective date, ensuring swift implementation and immediate relief for revenge porn victims who choose to utilize the ACP during the legal process.
