The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced an informational session on April 18th for the Broadalbin Public Boat Launch Draft Unit Management Plan (UMP). This announcement comes after strong advocacy from Senator Mark Walczyk and Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, who wrote to the New York State DEC in February to ask the department to listen to the residents of Fulton County and extend the public comment period. The informational session, which will be held at the Broadalbin-Perth High School, will provide residents with a short presentation from the DEC and allow for an open table discussion regarding the UMP.
“This information session is essential to ensuring the residents of Broadalbin are heard. Extending the public comment period and organizing this round table discussion is the right thing to do in a representative democracy that puts the citizens in charge. I’m glad the DEC listened and I'm proud to stand with Assemblywoman Walsh to advocate for tourism and recreation in the 49th Senate District.”
“Any decisions made regarding the Broadalbin Public Boat Launch will impact the tightknit community in the Town of Broadalbin and neighboring localities, so it is important that residents have the opportunity to have their thoughts and concerns heard,” said Walsh. “After hearing from several of our constituents, I was happy to join Senator Walczyk to advocate for an extended comment period and am grateful that the DEC recognized the importance of doing so.”
