Senator Monica R. Martinez Announces $70K State Grant for West Babylon Steel Fabricator

HAUPPAUGE, NY - August 7, 2023 –  Senator Monica R. Martinez announced today that West Babylon steel fabricator Red Ironworks, Inc. has been awarded a $70,000 Empire State Development (ESD) grant to assist in the expansion of its Kean Street facility and purchase equipment that will produce steel for the offshore wind sector. 

The grant is part of more than $27 million that has been awarded to support 40 projects across the state which contribute directly to the needs of their communities. Each project was chosen by their respective Regional Economic Development Council due to their project’s “shovel readiness” and alignment with their region’s strategic plan.  The estimated cost of the Red Ironworks project is $350,000.
