Senator Helming Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Victor-Farmington Ambulance
October 25, 2023
State Senator Pam Helming joined members of the Victor-Farmington Ambulance Corps Board of Directors to commemorate a half-century of service in Ontario County. Throughout the pandemic and as the surrounding community continues to grow, the ambulance service has provided unwavering emergency care and transport for 50 years.
Local EMS providers here and across the state have faced a critical shortage of volunteers, and fewer people considering emergency service as a career. Senator Helming has championed initiatives such as the creation of the state’s Rural Ambulance Services Task Force and led workgroups leading to the introduction of legislation to support youth training programs. She is exploring the expansion of EMS training and certification programs through BOCES. Read her recent column here.
Senator Helming has also co-sponsored legislation before the Governor that would require insurers to immediately pay ambulance providers directly.
Senator Helming said, “Thank you to Victor-Farmington Ambulance for the incredible care you have provided for our neighbors, family, and friends. You are always prepared, ready to respond, and never off duty. That is an incredible responsibility, and we owe you a great deal of gratitude. I will continue to fight for the resources and support needed to do your jobs effectively and safely.”
Victor-Farmington Ambulance CEO Jared Palmer added, “I thank every volunteer or paid professional that has had the privilege to wear our patch. Without our past and current members, we would not be here today. Our mission remains the same. We strive every day to provide exceptional emergency medical service with highly trained personnel and an ongoing commitment to the exploration, evaluation, and utilization of the latest technological resources. I would like to thank Senator Helming for her time and her support of emergency medical services throughout our community and state.”
