Legislative Commission on Rural Resources Releases Analysis of Enacted '23-'24 Budget

Albany, NY – On Friday, June 9, at the conclusion of the 2023 legislative session, the Legislative Commission on Rural Resources released an analysis of the 2023-2024 New York State Enacted Budget. The document contains appropriations and initiatives across eleven different categories, ranging from "Food and Agriculture" to "Health" to "Transportation" and discusses how spending and policy in the State Budget will impact New York's rural communities.  

"We are proud of this document because it will serve as a resource for legislators, staff, and stakeholders as they return to their districts for the summer. It is our hope that they will use it when discussing budget wins for their communities in addition to strategizing for the upcoming legislative session in January 2024. As a commission, we look forward to continuing to aggregate information to better serve members, staff, and New York's rural communities," said Corey Mosher, executive director of the Legislative Commission on Rural Resources.

The bipartisan Legislative Commission on Rural Resources is composed of members from both the Senate and the Assembly. Albany's only independent body focused on the needs of rural New York, its goal is to promote and protect the state’s rural resources by making recommendations to the legislature on policies and programs. Senator Rachel May serves as the Commission’s chair and Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara serves as the Assembly chair.
