Rolison on Hochul Address: Trust Must be Earned
January 12, 2023
ALBANY, NY — State Senator Rob Rolison (39th District) released the following statement today in response to Governor Kathy Hochul’s State of the State address:
“Governor Hochul accurately described a lack of trust in state government among many everyday New Yorkers. Yet trust must be earned. For years Albany has bypassed or ignored local governments and their residents.
“Statewide legislation and executive orders have been pushed through with little input from those who would be affected most by these measures. This accounts for the trust deficit Governor Hochul rightly acknowledges. But it is Albany and not working families living in the Hudson Valley that bears the blame.
“New York’s nation-leading population loss is the ultimate reality check on those in charge. Leaders must again lead by listening to those they serve. I commend Governor Hochul for taking the necessary first steps. Now let Albany practice what it preaches and be held to account for its mistakes.”
