Senator Sean Ryan Introduces Resolution Commemorating ‘Small Business Month’ In New York

SENATOR SEAN RYAN INTRODUCES RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING ‘SMALL BUSINESS MONTH’ IN NEW YORK

ALBANY – On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the New York State Senate passed a resolution introduced by Senator Sean Ryan, chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business, memorializing May as Small Business Month in New York and recognizing small businesses as a crucial element in the economy of New York State.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, small businesses make up 96% of New York’s businesses and employ roughly half of the state’s workers. The innovation, diversity, competitive strength, job creation, and quality of life that small businesses bring to our economy are vital elements of our State's long-term economic health.

Senator Sean Ryan said, “Small businesses are the backbone of our state. When they are thriving, New York is thriving. Small Business Month is an opportunity to celebrate small business owners and reaffirm our commitment to passing policies that support them.
