SENATOR SEAN RYAN SUPPORTS RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING MAY 4 AS VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS' APPRECIATION DAY
ALBANY – Today, May 8, 2023, New York State Senator Sean Ryan joined his colleagues to pass a resolution commemorating Thursday, May 4, 2023 as Volunteer Firefighters’ Appreciation Day in the State of New York. The resolution, sponsored by Senator Rachel May, was adopted to recognize and honor the many sacrifices New York’s volunteer firefighters make to serve their communities.
As the resolution states, “Firefighters dedicate their lives to the protection of life and property; sometimes that dedication is in the form of countless hours served and volunteered over many years, in others it is many selfless years working in the industry; in all cases, it risks the ultimate sacrifice of a firefighter’s life.”
Senator Sean Ryan said, “I am proud to represent 18 volunteer fire companies in New York’s 61st Senate District. Here in our community and across the United States, volunteer firefighters commit their time to provide a vital lifesaving service to their neighbors, often risking their own safety. Today, we recognize those New Yorkers who have made a commitment to help ensure the wellbeing of their fellow citizens.”
