STATEMENT FROM SENATOR SEAN RYAN ON JUDICIARY COMMITTEE VOTE
ALBANY – Today, April 17, 2023, New York State Senator Sean Ryan released the following statement regarding his vote to advance the nomination of Judge Rowan Wilson as Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals:
“Today the Senate Judiciary Committee held a wide-ranging and thoughtful confirmation hearing for Judge Rowan Wilson’s nomination as Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals. After carefully reviewing his record and hearing his testimony today, I voted to advance his nomination to the floor for a final confirmation vote. In his responses today, as well as his written opinions throughout his career, Judge Wilson has demonstrated a keen intellect and a thoughtful view of the court’s role in our society.
Judge Wilson is a well-respected member of the Court of Appeals who has shown a steadfast commitment to the rule of law. If confirmed, he will be an excellent leader of New York’s judicial system. I commend Governor Hochul for her commitment to expanding judicial diversity and for putting forward such a well-qualified nominee.”
