Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said, “As the daughter and sister of veterans, it is especially meaningful for me to welcome our Korean War veterans to Albany and to hold the inaugural reception recognizing their service. Their bravery and sacrifices have made a lasting impact on our state and nation, and it is a privilege and an honor to pay tribute to them. We haven’t forgotten their dedication, service and commitment to defend our country and preserve our freedom. I want to thank Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton for hosting, and for her work as the Senate’s Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee Chair.”
Senator Shelley B. Mayer said, “Thank you to Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton for hosting this recognition of our Veterans of the Korean War. The State Senate Westchester Delegation is pleased to offer transportation for veterans interested in attending. It is our hope that this will make it a little easier to attend this important event. I am appreciative of my constituent, Colonel Chester Edwards, a veteran of the Vietnam War for his advocacy on this important recognition.”
Senator Pete Harckham said, “We thank our Korean War veterans for their sacrifices during what is sometimes wrongly called the ‘forgotten war.’ We will never forget their service to our country. We will always honor and remember those who fought and sometimes paid the ultimate price in this very real war.”
Senator Jamaal T. Bailey said, “I want to thank my colleagues in the Westchester Senate Delegation and Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Committee Chair New York State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton for the opportunity to recognize and pay tribute to these remarkable women and men who have served our country with honor. Their courage and sacrifice have left an indelible mark on our history and have shaped the social fabric of our communities throughout the State of New York. On behalf of the communities I proudly represent across the 36th Senatorial District, I am honored to host our esteemed Korean War Veterans from the Bronx and Mount Vernon at the State Capitol for this special day of recognition and express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for their service.”
Senator Nathalia Fernandez said, “I along with the Westchester Senate Delegation are so grateful to join Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton in honoring the Korean War Veterans here in Albany. I am so fortunate to host the brave men and women from my district who have served this country so bravely. This is just a small but impactful way to recognize their sacrifice and amplify the voices and concerns of our veterans in Westchester, the Bronx, and across New York State."
