Senator Rhoads Slams the Governor’s Congestion Pricing Plan

Governor Hochul’s congestion pricing plan is just another tax on the suburbs! Governor Hochul continues to prove she is out-of-touch with Long Islanders and hard-working New Yorkers already crushed by record-high inflation, increased taxes, and one-party rule in Albany that continues to tax and spend residents out of the State. Her move to advance her first-in-the-nation congestion pricing plan shows she is trying to once again punish the suburbs and chip away at our suburban quality of life to dump more money into the mismanaged MTA instead of seeking ways to curb wasteful spending. That’s why I have repeatedly called for a forensic audit of the MTA to see where the hard-working taxpayers and commuters money is going and how to finally improve the MTA’s fiscal management and deliver better service for riders. The Governor’s congestion pricing plan does nothing to move New York forward. It only exacerbates the lack of affordability in New York, continues New York’s unfriendly business environment, and forces more people to flee the Empire State,” said Senator Rhoads.
