A Look at the 2024 Budget: Progress for Seniors, Families, and Our Future
This year’s state budget reflects both hard-fought victories and ongoing challenges. While the road to finalizing the budget was not easy, it brought about important gains, particularly for our seniors, working families, and future generations. From securing millions to close waitlists for senior services, to enhancing education funding and expanding healthcare access, we’re making progress on critical issues that affect the daily lives of New Yorkers.
In healthcare, new programs are training the next generation of caregivers while offering young people pathways to rewarding careers. There’s also enhanced support for mental health services, first responders, and maternal care. For housing, although there’s more work to be done, we’ve made strides in protecting public housing residents and boosting affordable housing initiatives.
