Stec, Jones Pleased Village of Tupper Lake is Receiving $2.446 Million Water Grant Award

Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) and Assemblyman Billy Jones (D-Chateaugay) today were pleased to see the Village of Tupper Lake receive a $2.446 million grant from the state Department of Health’s Bureau of Water Supply Protection to help pay for a water filtration project that is vital to improving water quality in the village. Both Stec and Jones have repeatedly met with local officials to help address the water quality in Tupper Lake and have both advocated for further state assistance in financing this essential project.

“As the Village of Tupper Lake works to develop and implement its new water filtration system, it was crucial for state government to step up and provide assistance,” said Stec. “We’re pleased that the village is receiving this $2.446 million grant to be used toward this water filtration system. I’m glad that Assemblyman Jones and I were able to work directly with both local and state officials to secure state grant funding for this transformative project and help address this major quality of life issue in Tupper Lake.”

“Tupper Lake residents need clean water now and the $2.5 million awarded by DOH is the first step to fixing this issue,” said Jones. “I have pushed for DOH and the State to take action on this and I will continue to work with local and state leaders to make sure that residents do not have to drink or use rusty water.”
