NYS SENATOR & NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES HONOR LOCAL TEACHER

(Bellport, NY) – Mr. Andrew Budris, a social studies instructor at Bellport High School in the South Country School District, was recently recognized as the "2023-2024 Secondary Social Studies Teacher of the Year" by the National Council for the Social Studies. The National Council for the Social Studies is a professional association devoted to social studies education. In honor of this recognition, NYS Senator Dean Murray introduced a resolution that was unanimously adopted by the NY State Senate.
Senator Murray and South Country School District Superintendent, Antonio Santana, recently visited Mr. Budris in his classroom at Bellport High School, where Senator Murray surprised him with the Senate Resolution, honoring his accomplishment.
Mr. Budris has been an educator at Bellport High School for over 25 years. He teaches social studies, advanced placement courses and serves as the lead teacher in the Social Studies Department. Mr. Budris is a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and dedicated teacher who has improved the quality of the high school by leading and supporting staff with enthusiasm and by cultivating a positive and stimulating environment for his students and the community.
