July 2, 2024
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is partnering with Friends of Phil Rizzuto “Smokey Park,” Zumba instructor Annie Mohan, and several community groups to host a series of free Zumba classes every Monday night from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. through August 12 – that’s eight sessions of fitness fun. The classes are held at Phil “Scooter” Rizzuto Park at 95th Avenue and 125th Street in South Richmond Hill. Participants will meet at the handball courts. Classes are open to all, but registration is required. For more information, call 929-609-1166 or 929-609-1386 or go online to friendsofsmokeypark@foprsp.com
The first class was held on Monday, June 24, 2024, with plenty of residents taking advantage of the scenic weather for an opportunity to exercise outside. Senator Addabbo was on hand for the festivities, as was Sherry Algredo, the Chairwoman of Queens Community Board 9. The free Zumba classes resume after the July 4th holiday on Monday, July 8th.
The other co-sponsors are: Designs by Dash, Mattress by Appointment of Queens Village, Fun Times Photobooth, Jamaica Rotary Club, Gemma Singh of Triangle Realty, Karl Mohan of International Realty Group Inc., Green Leaf Bistro, Heart of Gem, and Lloyd Associates Inc.
"I am proud to be partnering with so many community organizations to bring free Zumba classes to the district, which not only encourages physical activity but also fosters a sense of unity and well-being among our residents,” Addabbo said. “Let's dance our way to a healthier and happier community together."
