Statement on the Implementation of Congestion Pricing

As a long time supporter of climate initiatives and transportation alternatives, I am happy to see the Governor implement congestion pricing, and I am looking forward to working with her office and my colleagues to get it right.

I represent one of the most transit oriented districts in this city, and have tens of thousands of constituents who live below 60th street. They deserve clean air, modern and more accessible transit, safe streets, and a commitment to a higher quality of life.

We’ll continue to assess the impacts of the program on our community, especially our constituents who live in the congestion pricing zone, and will work towards the fairest and most effective version for all New Yorkers. 

Congestion pricing is an important step toward making New York a climate leader and giving the MTA every tool they need to remain a leader in mass transit–and we must implement it now.
