Senator Lea Webb Announces $150,000 in State Funding to Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton

(BINGHAMTON, NY) Today, Senator Lea Webb announced that she has secured $150,000 in state funding for the Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton. The funding awarded through the NY Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program (CREST) will support renovations to the zoo's facilities and to ensure that the zoo’s restrooms are ADA compliant.
"I am thrilled to have secured vital funding for the Ross Park Zoo. This cherished cornerstone of our community has been serving local families for nearly a century and a half," said Senator Lea Webb. “Their organization is dedicated to conservation education, stewardship of nature, and recreation. These funds underscore my commitment to furthering their mission. l am proud to support the necessary renovations and upgrades they are making to their facilities."
Said Phillip Ginter, Executive Director of Ross Park Zoo, “We are grateful for the Senator's support of this project which will allow us to continue to make the Ross Park Zoo a more inclusive and accessible space for members of our community. The renovations planned for our current restrooms will ensure we are able to provide accessible accommodations for everyone who visits the zoo and build on other accessibility initiatives including our recent purchase of a 9-passenger electric shuttle, certification through KultureCity as a sensory inclusive venue, and our participation in Museums for All. With support from Senator Webb and members of our community we are empowering an inclusive conservation community."
