(BINGHAMTON, NY) – Today, Senator Lea Webb announced that she has allocated $250,000 in state funding to the Binghamton Fire Department (BFD). This funding, combined with an additional $363,759 in funding from the City of Binghamton, will be used to purchase a new fire truck for the city's fire department.
The Binghamton Fire Department, with over 115 dedicated members, is responsible for protecting the City of Binghamton and its 47,000 residents within an 11.5 square mile area. Operating out of five stations throughout the city, the BFD will house the new fire truck at Engine 1 Station on Conklin Avenue in Binghamton. This new truck will enhance the department’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
"I am thrilled to have secured this significant funding for a new fire truck that will equip our brave firefighters with the tools they need to continue their exemplary service," said Senator Lea Webb. "This new fire truck will enhance the department's operational capabilities, and allow them to respond to emergencies with greater efficiency and effectiveness. I am proud to support the Binghamton Fire Department and their unwavering dedication to protecting our residents. I appreciate the City of Binghamton providing additional funds to help support this purchase."
Said Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham, “This new fire truck will serve the South Side from Engine 1 on Conklin Avenue, replacing a 20-year-old rig at the end of its useful life. It’s another major investment to make sure our first responders have what they need to perform their jobs safely and continue protecting our community. Thank you to Senator Webb for her partnership and support.”
