Albany, NY — In a special ceremony held at the New York Senate, legendary baseball player David Ortiz, affectionately known as "Big Papi", was honored with Resolution J2353, unanimously voted in, for his outstanding sports career and his commitment to philanthropy. Assemblywoman Amanda Séptimo introduced the same resolution in the Assembly, where it was also passed without opposition.

David Ortiz was welcomed at the Capitol by the Senate's Democratic Majority Leader, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and the Assembly Leader, Carl Heastie. "We are deeply proud and honored to have such a prominent figure as David among us. His presence here not only celebrates his sporting achievements but also his tireless philanthropic work through his foundation, the David Ortiz Children's Fund, which has been crucial in saving the lives of hundreds of children with heart and health issues," stated Senator Luis Sepúlveda.

The ceremony was attended by dozens of fans and members of the legislature, who greeted "Big Papi" with great enthusiasm and joy. "David's special story as an athlete will always be marked by his exemplary conduct both on and off the field," added Senator Sepúlveda.

"It is an honor and a privilege to have introduced this resolution and to honor this celebrated Dominican, who has proven to be a true champion in all aspects of his life," concluded the Senator.
