August 19, 2024
WOODSTOCK, NY – Nearly 300 Woodstockers were honored on Saturday at the 20th Annual Woodstock Volunteers Day, a celebration of the selfless individuals who continuously uplift, inspire, and give back to their community. Woodstock, a town known for its deep-rooted spirit of volunteerism, is the only town in America to dedicate a day solely to honoring its volunteers. The festivities featured a town picnic, live musical performances, and activities for volunteers and their families, all organized by the Woodstock Volunteers Day Committee.
Senator Michelle Hinchey said, “Being a volunteer can take many forms, but at its core, it means showing up, believing in the greater good, extending a helping hand, and doing your part to leave a positive impact behind. Volunteers Day is a testament to the compassion and generosity within the Woodstock community, and I’m grateful to Woodstock Volunteers Day Committee President Cathy Magarelli and the entire Committee for organizing this wonderful event and recognizing the incredible work of all our local volunteers.”
Sam Magarelli, Woodstock Volunteers Day Committee Member said, “This wonderful event is a great way for a town to build community spirit. Volunteers Day doesn’t have to be held only in Woodstock. Appreciating all the kind, generous and community minded people within any town helps to make the world a better place; and you can have fun doing it!”
