August 8, 2024
Senator Pam Helming recently presented York, Livingston County student Connor Rodwell with a New York State Senate Commendation Award for his incredible achievements and contributions to the community after losing his best friend to suicide. At the Hemlock Fair 4-H Auction, Connor sold his market hogs for an astounding $58,212, which he generously donated to the Livingston County Suicide Prevention Task Force and York Youth Football program in Tanner's honor. The Commendation Award honors an individual who exemplifies the spirit of community, philanthropy, and leadership.
Senator Helming said, “Connor is a remarkable young man and an example of true student leadership. Amidst the grief, Connor decided that Tanner's legacy should not be one of sorrow but one of positive change. His compassion shows the power of one person making a significant difference.”
