March 21, 2024
Senator Pam Helming recently presented Mary Ferris with a New York State Senate Commendation Award in recognition of her 50 years of service to the children and families of the greater Canandaigua community as Wood Library Children’s Librarian. The Commendation Award honors an individual who exemplifies the spirit of community, philanthropy and leadership.
Senator Helming said, “Mrs. Ferris has spent her life in service to children and is a treasure to so many families and to the community. She showed all of us how to bring a story to life through her magical flannel boards, hand puppets, silly songs and creative costumes. Mrs. Ferris is truly one-of-a-kind. It is my honor to recognize her with the New York State Senate Commendation Award as she ends a 50-year storied career and enjoys a well-deserved retirement with her family.”
