Over 530 Families Receive School Supplies at Senator Persaud's 2024 Annual Free Fun Day & Back 2 School Giveaway
(Brooklyn, New York) —On a sunny afternoon, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Canarsie Park played host to Senator Roxanne J. Persaud's annual SD-19 Funday and Back 2 School Giveaway event that brought hundreds of families and community members together for a day of enjoyment. The park's picturesque setting and perfect weather set the stage for an engaging and fun-filled day.
Attendees enjoyed a diverse array of activities, including delicious food, refreshing drinks, creative arts and crafts, thrilling gaming trucks, and exciting rock wall climbing. The addition of virtual reality experiences and a reading corner provided both excitement and educational value. Numerous vendors and agencies were present, offering valuable information and resources to the community.
In addition to the day’s festivities, over 530 families received backpacks filled with essential school supplies to help prepare their children for the new school year.
The event was made possible through the generous support and collaboration of several partners, including the NYPD 69th Precinct Community Affairs, Explorers & Auxiliary Officers, NYPD 75th Precinct, NYPD PSA 2 Explorers, Millennium Development, Broadway Stages, Agape International, Emblem Health Neighborhood Care, Shopper World Brownsville, Dunkin' Donuts Starrett City, BJ’s East New York, Pagano Melon, Brooklyn Cyclones, The Campaign Against Hunger, CCA Metro, The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, HSNY, UFT - United Federation of Teachers, NYPD Community Affairs Bureau Brooklyn Outreach Division, and HITN.
