ROCHESTER, NY - Senator Samra Brouk proudly announced awards to local Fire and EMS Departments totalling over $1.5 million dollars in grant funds to Fire and EMS departments.

The grant money awarded has allowed companies to obtain tools and equipment they need to continue their everyday life saving efforts, including Bailout Escape Equipment, new self-contained breathing apparatus, Jaws of Life, and access to community health services by promoting telehealth. Having reliable equipment for our Emergency Medical Services and Fire Departments spells the difference between life and death, and Senator Brouk is honored to fight for this funding now and in the future.

Senator Samra Brouk, State Senator 55th District: “Our local first responders are not immune to what is happening across the country–the number of volunteer first responders are dropping while service calls are increasing. We are here today to help unburden our emergency responders by announcing more than 1.5 million dollars in funding for Fire and EMS Departments in our district. I am proud to have secured funding for every department that requested aid. These funds will be used toward equipment and services that will help save lives. We thank our first responders who answer calls for help with unparalleled courage and resilience–we are glad to do what we can to support the brave individuals who keep our communities safe.”

Steven Kozak,Webster Fire 1st Assistant Chief: “The fire department emphasized the need for new extrication tools, as modern passenger vehicles require advanced equipment for efficient rescue operations. Senator Brouk successfully secured grant funding from New York State for the purchase of new Hurst tools (aka the jaws of life). These tools will enhance the department’s ability to respond promptly and effectively to accidents within the district and neighboring areas. On behalf of the Webster Fire Department, we express our deep gratitude for her efforts in securing this critical, lifesaving equipment.”
