(White Plains, NY) - State Senator Shelley B. Mayer partnered with United Way of Westchester and Putnam Counties for her annual Back-To-School supply drive for students and teachers.
From July 8 until August 10, Senator Mayer and United Way collected donations at the Town of Mamaroneck Town Hall, Grinton I. Will Library in Yonkers, Pound Ridge Townhouse, and Senator Mayer’s office in White Plains. Among the supplies were: backpacks, spiral notebooks, composition books, two-pocket folders, three-ring binders, pencil cases, twelve-inch rulers, safety scissors, #2 pencils, ballpoint pens, colored pencils, crayons, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, highlighters, pink erasers, sticky notes, white board markers, little bins, white board erasers, magic markers, and tape.
Senator Shelley Mayer said, “I am so grateful to live in a community that comes together to ensure our neighbors have all they need to thrive. Each new school year is an exciting time for students and teachers, but for many families, school supplies are too expensive. I am continually overwhelmed by the generosity of our community and I thank everyone who donated. I would also like to thank the Mamaroneck Town Center, the Grinton I. Will Library, and the Pound Ridge Town House for providing drop-off locations. The people of Pound Ridge deserve a special mention for being a small community with a very big heart. Lastly, thank you to United Way of Westchester and Putnam for your commitment to our community and for partnering with me once again to ensure everyone is able to start the school year off strong.”
Tom Gabriel, United Way of Westchester and Putnam President and CEO, said, “We are so appreciative of the support from Senator Mayer and the community for assisting us in helping our neighbors.”
