NYS Senator Dean Murray Appointed to Key Committees and Task Force for 2025 Legislative Session

(Patchogue, NY) – The NYS Senate Republican Conference has released its Committee and Task Force assignments for the 2025 legislative session and Senator Dean Murray has been named the Minority Ranking Member of the Senate’s Commerce, Economic Development, and Small Business Committee, the Libraries Committee, and the Social Services Committee. These leadership roles reflect Senator Murray’s commitment to addressing critical issues that impact businesses, communities and families across the state.
Senator Murray will also serve as a member of several other key committees, including the Codes Committee, the Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Committee, and the Higher Education Committee.
In addition to his work on those committees, Senate Minority Leader, Robert Ortt, has also appointed Senator Murray to serve on the Joint Senate Task Force on Opioids, Addiction, and Overdose Prevention. "Over the past 2 years, Senator Murray has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fighting this deadly drug epidemic and the devasting impact it has on our communities. His dedication and leadership in championing this issue will make him a valuable asset to the Task Force and provide him the opportunity to share his ideas on legislation, policies and programs aimed at combating the opioid crisis and supporting those affected by it. I am confident that his contributions will help develop meaningful strategies to address this urgent challenge," stated NYS Senator Robert Ortt, 62nd District.
Reacting to the announcement, Senator Dean Murray, 3rd District, said "I am grateful for the confidence the Leader has placed in me and excited about taking on the challenges that lie ahead. I look at these appointments as opportunities to continue working towards making New York safer and more affordable for all."
As the legislative session begins, Senator Murray remains focused on advocating for the needs of the 3rd Senate District and working to address challenges facing New Yorkers. The Senator wants to work towards making New York safer and more affordable.
