SENATOR WALCZYK JOINS THE RULES COMMITTEE, ENHANCING REPRESENTATION FOR HIS DISTRICT
March 11, 2025
New York State Senator Mark Walczyk announced on March 11th that he has been appointed to the Senate Rules Committee. The Rules Committee is one of the most important committees in the Senate, second only to the Finance Committee, as it reviews a wide array of bills before they proceed to the floor for a vote.
As a member of the Rules Committee, Senator Walczyk has the opportunity to influence which bills advance in the legislative process. This unique position is typically reserved for more senior members of the Senate, with many Senators often waiting years to be appointed.
“Senator Mark Walczyk has been a strong, consistent voice in our Conference, and I greatly admire his service both in the halls of the Capitol and as a member of the Army Reserve. I’m proud to appoint him to serve as a member of the Rules Committee where I am confident he will continue to speak on behalf of his district and our conference, as well as advocate for common sense proposals that will help all New Yorkers,” said Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt.
Senator Walczyk recognizes the importance of his new position, stating, "If I'm not in the room, I can't advocate for our area. This is a big room; big committee. I welcome the additional work, and I'm honored to be selected. I'd like to thank Leader Ortt for placing me on the Senate's Rules Committee and giving me a larger role in the fight for New York's future."
His appointment not only signifies a leadership role within the Senate Republican Conference but also underscores his commitment to effectively represent the interests of his constituents in the legislative arena.
In addition to the Rules Committee, Senator Walczyk also serves on the Banks, Energy, Telecommunications, Housing, and Internet and Technology committees. He is also a Ranking Member on the Elections, Cities 2, and Commission on Rural Resources.
