Trans youth and their families deserve safety, certainty, and access to the care they need—not fear, not confusion, and not last-minute cancellations from a hospital that has long been a trusted provider of gender-affirming care. New York’s State Constitution protects our LGBTQIA+ family and friends, which means that no hospital in this state should be abandoning its patients.
“Right now, hospitals can quietly eliminate lifesaving care with no accountability, leaving some of our most vulnerable neighbors in the dark and scrambling for answers. That’s exactly why we need our bill, the Hospital Transparency Act—so when hospitals deny care they are fully capable of providing, the public knows, and we can act to close emerging healthcare deserts before more lives are jeopardized. The White House’s Executive Order is putting trans youth at risk, and NYU Langone’s silence only deepens the harm. We urge NYU Langone to speak up, be transparent, and stand by their patients who are counting on their care and support."
