CANZONERI-FITZPATRICK & SENATE REPUBLICANS UNVEIL AFFORDABILITY AGENDA

Sen. Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick Affordability Press Conference
Legislation that Would Cut Taxes, Ease Utility Bills and Keep More Money in the Pockets of New Yorkers

ALBANY, NY - In the wake of a staggering $259 billion budget proposal advanced by Senate Democrats last week, Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick and members of the Senate Republican Conference today called for the inclusion of several pieces of legislation in the enacted budget that would provide relief and help ease the affordability crisis being faced by New Yorkers.

These bills, part of the Senate Republican Conferences “Liberate New York,” 2025 Legislative Agenda– are aimed at helping families and businesses who are struggling under high taxes and skyrocketing costs on everything from utilities to housing.

New Yorkers are being crushed by rising costs—from utility bills to groceries—while Albany’s bloated government spending only worsens the affordability crisis. Families struggling under the weight of high taxes and expenses need relief, not reckless spending. Instead of more government overreach, we need commonsense solutions that lower taxes, support families, and make homeownership attainable through first-time homebuyer credits. Our conference remains committed to real solutions that put money back in New Yorkers’ pockets. As a mother of four, I know firsthand the importance of budgeting—if my household expenses exceed our budget, I can’t simply decide to spend more. Yet, under one-party control, Albany has done just that, and we’re all paying the price. I want my kids, my neighbors' kids, and every New Yorker’s children to have the opportunity to build their futures here. But the reality is, unless we get serious about bringing costs down, New York will continue to lose residents, leaving fewer people to shoulder an ever-growing tax burden. It’s time for lawmakers to say enough is enough and prioritize real fiscal responsibility,

said Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick.
