ARROYO, ROBINSON, ROSA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to requiring that poli- tical campaign mailing pieces are printed on recycled product THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new section 3-111 to read as follows: S 3-111. RECYCLING OF CAMPAIGN AND POLITICAL LITERATURE. ALL POLI- TICAL LITERATURE IN NEW YORK STATE, WHETHER HAND-BILLED OR MAILED, SHALL HAVE AFFIXED TO IT, THE NYS-APPROVED RECYCLING LOGO SIGNIFIED BY THREE ARROWS IN A TRIANGULAR CONFIGURATION, AND THE FOLLOWING PRINTED MESSAGE: "THIS MATERIAL IS RECYCLABLE. IT CAN, AND SHOULD, BE RECYCLED AFTER USE. IT SHALL BE PLACED IN A PROPER RECYCLING BIN OR RECEPTACLE AND PROPERLY DISPOSED OF." S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07494-03-3
