The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that camera enforcement of the bus only lanes of the B44 Select Bus Service will beginning Monday, March 17.
Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unauthorized passenger vehicles within dedicated bus lanes on the B44 route will be cited for unauthorized travel in the lanes and fined $115.
To alert drivers, the DOT has installed signage on every block with a bus lane, “Bus Only” pavement marking at the beginning and end of these blocks. In addition “Bus Lanes Photo Enforced” signage occurs at regular intervals along the corridor.
Launched in November, the B44 is the city’s sixth SBS route, serving 40,000 daily passengers along the 9.3-mile route on Nostrand, Rogers and Bedford avenues, one of Brooklyn’s major north-south corridors.
