Fremont, N.Y., October 24—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano yesterday joined the members of the Fremont Volunteer Fire Department and the North Hornell Volunteer Fire Department to get a firsthand look at the departments’ new trucks and firefighting equipment.
The Fremont Volunteer Fire Department purchased a new rescue truck and equipment with the assistance of $150,000 in state funding that O’Mara secured in the 2017-2018 New York State budget.
The North Hornell Volunteer Fire Department purchased a new, 3,000-gallon pumper tanker and water rescue equipment with the help of $215,000 in state funding O’Mara secured in the 2017-18 State budget.
O’Mara and Palmesano joined the area firefighters and other leaders at the Fremont Volunteer Department on Cream Hill Road in the town of Arkport on Tuesday evening to get a first look at the new trucks and equipment.
Both of the new trucks replace aging and unsafe vehicles, and will enhance firefighting and rescue capabilities for each department’s district and the surrounding area.
In a joint statement, O’Mara and Palmesano said, “We are always grateful for opportunities to assist our volunteer fire departments upgrade their vehicles and equipment that helps local firefighters better serve their communities and enhances the personal safety of our firefighters. Thank you to the Fremonth and North Hornell firefighters, and their fellow first responders throughout the region, for their outstanding service to save lives and protect property.”
