NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
SUBJECT: To examine alternative methods of financing public education in New York State
PURPOSE: To hear from national experts in economics and school finance about potential alternatives to New York State’s current financing of public education, including additions, alternatives and modifications to existing sources of revenue.

The Senate Committees on Education and Budget and Revenues are jointly undertaking a series of public hearings to learn from national experts about alternative methods of financing public education, with subsequent hearings to explore ways to advance new revenue sources and improve distribution of funding for public schools.
This initial hearing is by invitation only. It is important that the reply form be completed and returned so that persons may be notified in the event of emergency postponement or cancellation.
30 copies of any prepared testimony should be submitted at the hearing registration desk. The Committee would appreciate advance receipt of prepared statements.
