New York State Senate Passes Reproductive Freedom and Equity Program

I am extraordinarily proud that today the Legislature—and in particular the Senate under the steadfast leadership of Andrea Stewart-Cousins—once again demonstrate that effective, compassionate reproductive health care is an essential human right! 

With passage of the Reproductive Freedom and Equity Program, and a whole package of bills to complement it—we ensure that New York will continue to be a beacon and safe haven for all those who need empowering access to health care procedures that are now banned or severely restricted in eighteen states. 

I want to commend the advocates for your energy and presence here today—all of your efforts have made a difference; your many decades of dedication and your unparalleled mobilization over the past year have been an inspiration; more importantly you have helped us change the laws in New York for the better! 

We will continue to count on you, and I know you will continue to be there for us, and for all women.
