Kennedy High School Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman David G. McDonough (19th Assembly District) announced that they secured $50,000 in state grant funding for Kennedy High School.

$35,000 of the total grant funding helped pay for improvements to the school’s weight room. New, modern equipment was purchased and the room was refurbished as well. The facility is utilized by the school’s sports teams, as well as by other students.

"The entire Kennedy High School community is extremely grateful for Senator Fuschillo’s grant. The new weight room has been open for about a week now, and many physical education classes have used the room to learn about fitness and strength development. In addition, the room has been open to all students every day after school. Coaches and supervisors have been working with the students, and many members of our athletic teams have been training in the room as well," Craig Papach, Athletic Coordinator for Kennedy High School, said.

"In addition to academics, schools teach children about the importance of good physical health and taking care of their bodies as well as their minds. With this new equipment, students will now be able to exercise with newly refurbished equipment in a safe environment," said Senator Fuschillo.

The remaining funds were used to purchase student activity showcases and add new shrubbery to enhance the aesthetic beauty of the school grounds.
